Here comes the Abomination or is that Obamanation?

January 13th, 2009

I just read this on the Thomas Register,”Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (Introduced in House)“.

My first comments are, well, “here we go…” However, reading further I see that currently, this bill has no co-sponsors, but, like everything else, this too can change.  It seems that Illinois has a problem with firearms, since Obama already tried to pass similar legislation in that state, but now we have the Congressman of the 1st district pimping this attempt to remove our 2nd ammendment rights.

PDF of the Bill

My curiosity is peaked, and I would like to see others out there who are watching, how much money is going to be wasted in Congress by the “Honorable Mr. Rush” these next two years trying to push this agenda?  Is this where the 1st District of Illinois wishes their money spent?  How about the rest of you? Is this where our tax dollars in Congress should be focused? If so, let me know…

Is District 1 of Illinois so crime ridden that they feel that restrictions on firearms should be National? I don’t think that the crime issues in District 1 are even remotely felt in my state, and I’m sure it’s not due to our 2nd ammendment rights.

http://www.spotcrime.com/il/chicago

Congressman Rush seems to think that what is best for his TINY (97.84 square miles) District 1 in Illinois is good enough for the rest of the country.  How do these people get elected?  Is it simply another one of back door Chicago mob style elections?  I mean really, where do these people come from?  I’m astounded that this Congressman would think that this would make a difference to the crime that the aforementioned counties have.  I mean really, Congressman Rush is pushing the envelope here, when his district has suffered approximately 8% unemployment, and only has roughly 700,000 constituents.  Is it unreasonable for this Congressman to actually to some work that would help his district?

Imposing more licensing is simply another way to TAX lawful firearms owners.  Of course, that’s just what people like Congressman Rush want, unless it’s the Black Panthers.

Here’s a novel idea, Congressman Rush, how about pursuing felons with the existing laws that are one the books, and enforcing those, before you waste our time and money trying to pass over reaching laws on capital hill?  These maneuvers are otherwise apparent of your inability to keep your nose out of our President-elect’s ass.

I’m ashamed that you served in the Army, and forgot what weapons are for.

Gaaaaah… I just wanna throw up.

Atlanta Gun Shows added…

December 25th, 2008

I’ve added the upcoming Gun Shows in the Atlanta GA area, if you’re in the region and looking for a weapon before the “Office of the President-Elect” turns into our country into a “brother & sister keeping” socialist state.

I’m continuing my stockpile of weapons, ammo, reloading equipment, powder, bullets, and brass, so that I can defend my 2nd Amendment rights.

You can also look for your own state and shows at this link: http://www.gunshows-usa.com/

Enjoy, and Happy Shooting!

Stupid is as Legislators do… Microstamping and Serialization

July 7th, 2008

For those of you that don’t know, the Liberal Left is trying to remove your right to bear arms, by requiring all ammunition to be serialized with a laser, burning a serial number on to the bottom (inside) of the projectile.

Microstamping is another method, by which legislators are trying to force that all firearms manufacturers place a system to microstamp the casings as the rounds are fired, making a mark that is readable under high magnification.  Needless to say, this is going to be a significant modification to firearms manufacturing, making the high pressure breach area of a weapon more complex, with more moving parts, and increasing the chances of failure, dangerous conditions, jamming and lowering overall weapons effectiveness.  Not just for the casual sportman, but for the police and protection forces as well.

We already have the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network (NIBIN) and Integrated Ballistic Identification Systems (IBIS) systems with spent casings and ballistics information from recovered rounds, why do we need another?  (We don’t)

It seems to me that these “legislators” don’t have the first clue as to how criminals actually function.

  1. What criminal is going to purchase “serialized” ammo, legally, and then go commit a crime with it? Really?  Are they simply going to remove or bypass the microstamping mechnism in the weapon?
  2. Who is this going to benefit? Law enforcement is against it, ammunition manufacturers don’t feel that this can be adequately and safely accomplished, so let’s really explore this…

It’s a tax on LEGAL firearms owners, who will have to pay the increased costs of ammunition, destroy their own loaded or pre-purchased ammunition at their own costs, and pay more for the RIGHT to bear arms.

A great article that explains this further is located on the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) website.  Please note, the NSSF has sponsored many responsible weapons control bills, in an attempt to make our country safer.

We really need to get these clowns in check, before we lose all of our rights…

See a list of the current legislation surrounding bullet serialization in the US here. And the microstamping legislation is here.

A great day to learn to cast…

July 6th, 2008

Perspective on rounds...Went over to a friends house, and started learning to cast bullets and learn to reload.  We had a great time, laughing about some of the rounds we were working on.

We cast some 9mm 124g, 45/70 340g, and 40cal.  It was cool to learn how to cast lead properly, and there are some images located here.

We laughed about the ft/lb energy of the 45/70 450g round.  It’s somewhere around 3200ft/lbs of energy, which is akin to throwing a car at something.  Sort of like “Here, hold on to this car!”

Ok, OK! I know I have to go shooting when…

June 27th, 2008

I have really been wanting to go back to the range, but work has gotten me wrapped around an axle, so I’m stressing, and hoping to get out soon.

Many of the people here in Atlanta that I hang out with have expressed a desire to learn more about handguns, and as such, I’m going to share my knowledge and experience with them. Hopefully, very soon. I’m also going to look into what it takes to be a “licensed instructor” if there is such a thing in Georgia.

I’ll keep you posted.

Mr. Bill was the Highlight of the Range!

May 10th, 2008

While going to the range, I got to see “Mr. Bill”, a friend of a friend who just came back from throat cancer surgery. He is looking great! and it amazing spirits! “Mr. Bill”, it was great to see you again!

Also, I got to shoot Obiedon’s new 45/70, and now I HAVE to have one. It was way too cool, and wasn’t as bad as I expected.

I shot pretty well with my Kimber, but experienced three jams, that were completely my fault. My wrist was breaking too early, and too much reducing energy on the slide to eject the empty casing clearly. Oddly enough, it only occurred on the last round of the magazine. I think it had to do with the fact that I count my shots in my head, and knowing it was the last round, I simply lost focus on the last shot.

I will be going back to work on that issue, and hopefully can determine how to better prevent that from happening.

The 45/70 shot like a dream, and now I’m very excited by the proposition of owning own, and then going Elk Hunting with it.

I’ll keep you posted…

I’m writing this while working on a server, but I’m going to the range again today…. every other friday? Could it be a habit?

I can’t wait…

Going to shoot Obiedon’s new 45/70 Marlin, and I look forward to seeing this weapon and getting a chance to bruise my shoulder.

Of course, the Kimber, and some others will be going as well…
